Local Authorities met to discuss the formalization of the Portuguese Municipalities Network for Cooperation

|
In order to formalize the Network of Portuguese Municipalities for Development Cooperation, Education for Development, Awareness Raising and Decentralized Cooperation activities, two officers of the Loures Municipality, one officer of the Marinha Grande Municipality and three officers of the Oeiras Municipality met, on the 29th of September, at the Instituto Marquês de Valle Flôr headquarters.

During the meeting topics like the nature, the organs, the management, the composition, the Network’s competences and activities, and the member’s rights and duties were discussed. In the beginning of November, the Oeiras Municipality will share with the other 13 Municipalities involved in the Project a draft of the Network’s Statutes, which will be brought to discussion on the Project’s second Workshop – that will take place from the 8th to the 10th of November in Tomar – under the theme Local Authorities Strategic Planning for Cooperation and Development.

The Network’s creation and formalization idea emerged within the Project Networking for Development: from town twinning to a more efficient cooperation framework and through the perception that networking brings numerous advantages to the stakeholders and beneficiaries involved.
